What in the world is she up to now?

Why is it so hard to find an open spot? Well, I have some big news! Read on!

I've been offered and have accepted a job at an event & touring production company and will be starting in August. For those of us who have worked together for a while, you may know this is the world that brought me to Nashville in 2000. I struggled with the decision - after five years of loss and struggle, it seems I finally was beginning to break even with my little business. It has been a labor of love. I've learned so much from each of you. You are valued; I am humbled over and over by your trust.

So what's next? Great question. I'm almost booked up for July, but please contact me if you want on the cancellation list - you may be able to swoop in. I'll be taking a "mostly hiatus" in August as I transition to my new gig. I also will miss the work, so you never know - reach out! There may be a bonus cup of tea in it when I'm not so pressed for time!

And then there's this:

Finally, after waiting for five years, I've begun one on one training in the Structural Integration 10 Series with Jo Justian. Why are you still training, you ask? I love this work. This is important work, and I am excited to offer these new tools. My availability will be limited to private practice - all you have to do is call or email me at MelanieJoyeLMT @ gmail .com and we can work out an evening or weekend session! I am also happy to refer you to a few selected therapists - the ones that treat me. Shoot me an email and I'll send their info, because they are amazing, and the most important thing is that you feel better.

I cannot thank you enough for being part of this. And I want to publicly thank Amanda McClanahan and Cognito Hair Design for their generous support, my wonderful room, and all the laughter. There are no words for how grateful I am for the kindness and silly extended to me by Amanda, Patrick, Mark, Kat, Dana, and Taylor. (and Sarah's back!!!) Go get yourself a fabulous haircut!

Reach out anytime!

You can still find me Facebook and Twitter and Instagram for occasional updates!

Simplify

My word for 2016 is SIMPLIFY. My dear friend Melissa gave me this book and I'm so grateful - perfect timing. Last week I headed to Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, Inc. and dropped off an entire Jetta full of clothes, random bits, boxes of books, weird electronic things, and cables. I have 2 more Hello Fresh size boxes of papers to ‪recycle‬ and 1 more box full of papers to be shredded.

Not sure the weight of those items, but I feel my very soul is 20 pounds lighter. And I still have more to go. All my records will be digital (saving me paper & storage) thanks to Dropbox, and I haven't even started on my closet yet. I've hung more art in my home - beautiful things that bring me joy. I've unearthed items that made me laugh out loud - and I put them on the wall so I can see them every day.

My Two Cents on the Essential Oil Craze...

The current popularity of essential oils is exciting, also a wee bit scary. I don't mean to squash the cleverly marketed hopes and dreams of network marketing circles. It's not for me. I don't want to sell anything; I just want to give the best bodywork session I can. EOs are amazing things. I use them daily. Here's a simple list to ponder when purchasing:

  • "Therapeutic Grade" or "Certified Grade Oils" are marketing phrases, nothing more. You will get a high quality oil, but they are available from other vetted sources, especially in Nashville.
  • Contraindications - should you be using this oil? Please education yourself on what could be beneficial, and double check the contraindications. Beware of allergies to oils! Are you pregnant? Click that contraindication link.
  • Are you taking the advice of someone on Facebook or should you be talking to a doctor or licensed professional? My eyebrow is raised at over-medication, but if you have a practitioner you trust please ask them. You may need a blood test to figure out some random deficiency. Some sellers really know their stuff. Others do not. Read, read, read.
  • Support your local folk! I buy most of my oils from Marge at Nature's Gift - she has been in this game longer than most and has been a HUGE source of education and knowledge for me.
